renault 4 gtl carburetter modification, 17.Oct.2001 00:54

Hello!
I would like to put the r5 gtl carb on my 1989 r4 gtl because, after looking at both engines (same 1108), I don´t find any difference except for the carb to justify the difference in the horsepower (r5 49cv/r4 34cv).My question is if it will fit or it will also need the r5 manifold?By the way is there any other mods that I can do to get more hp from the car without to much mess?

Nice to see, that our homepage is reading in Portugal, too. Hey, I was in Aviero at the atlantic three years ago... Fantastic!

Okay, maybe it's a good idea to ask the experts in our club. You could ask Wolfgang Kaum (wkaum@wolfgang-kaum.de) or Ingo Heitel (ingo@r4l.de) if they know something about the carbs.

To get more power in your R4 you should ask Chris Hecht. He put a R5-Alpine Turbo engine in his R4F4 (see at "Galerie"). I will see if I could find his emailadress.

PS: Pedro, are there a lot of R4 in Portugal and is there a R4-club, too?
